Less tax to be paid

by Simon Dodd on 21 March, 2012

Great news in today’s national budget – thanks to Lib Dem influence in Government, hardworking people will see their tax bills cut substantially as the personal allowance is increased.

The personal allowance (the amount of income that can be earned before tax needs to be paid) was already set to increase next month to £8105 (from £7475), meaning workers would pay £60 a year less.  Now, from April 2013, the personal allowance will increase even further to £9205 – saving taxpayers an extra £220 a year.

Thanks to the Lib Dems, from next year the average taxpayer will be paying £45 a month less in tax than they would have been under Labour.

This is definitely progress and will mean taxes become fairer.

I’m really pleased by this change – it will make a real difference to many hardworking local people.
