Comparing local councils

by Simon Dodd on 1 May, 2012

I saw a great comparison of services offered by local councils that I thought I’d share.

Portsmouth city council (run by the Lib Dems) has the lowest council tax in the area which has been frozen for three years – lower than Fareham council, Gosport council, Havant council and the Isle of Wight council (all four of which are run by the Conservatives).

Meanwhile, in Portsmouth we still have weekly bin collections, new libraries have been opened (with more planned) and travel tokens for pensioners have been kept.  But, none of these services are provided in Fareham, Gosport, Havant and the Isle of Wight.

So, in Portsmouth, the Lib Dems are providing more local services whilst freezing council tax – we’re investing in the city not cutting services.
