Woodland grant for Hilsea

by Simon Dodd on 19 January, 2012

Brilliant news that the Hilsea Lines woods and walks have been awarded Forestry Commission grants of up to £30,000!  This is as a direct result of the great work that has been done by volunteers and the council’s Hilsea Ranger.  The grants come on the back of the award of “Green Flag” award for excellence for the area.

The grants will pay for paths and seats and the setting up of new nature walks with information boards.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers that put in so much work!

Also, it’s worth pointing out that the local Conservative councillors had previously voted against the Lib Dem run-council’s £600 grant which funded the “Green Flag” application that kick-started the work.
